Chimney Fire Prevention

As winter approaches, and temperatures are almost assuredly going to drop, some homeowners will be turning to fireplaces and wood-burning stoves as a source of heat for their homes.  This can be a cost-effective and cozy way to provide warmth ib your home, but comes with a couple risks.

One large risk is that of a chimney fire.  Caused by creosote buildup and soot present on the chimney lining.  If these substances ignite, they can lead to a high-temperature and explosive blaze that can quickly spread throughout your home.

Even though the potential for a bad situation is there, it is easily avoidable. By scheduling an annual cleaning, which can cost between $100 and $350, you can greatly minimize your risk of this happening.  The process will clean the interior of the chimney of flammable buildup that can cause a fire to begin.
